Environment Shapes the Future. How would you build it?

Our focus is on the future and we want to know how you would build it – for yourself and your community. So, this Spring, we are inviting architects, designers, contractors, students and our neighbors to join us and answer the question: how would you build the future? By hosting this thought experiment via a community event, we are hoping to connect the architecture and design community of Atlanta with new ideas and fresh insights, and learn more about how we can all shape our future.

“As for the future, your task is not to foresee it, but to enable it.”

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Lunch Ideas. Momentum

A community event encouraging participants answer the question, “How would you build the future?”, Construct Build Evolve will feature innovative birdhouses created by volunteer architects. Each birdhouse will be a unique reflection to the vision of it's designer on how architecture and building choices can affect the future, in light of the issues we face today. They will be constructed from building materials provided by Function:'s clients as well as any recyclable or reusable material available to the designers. Participant answers will be gathered both at the event and online, and will be hung, as birds, around the birdhouses. By posing this question in a community forum, we hope to rouse dialogue and discover fresh ideas for the future of the built environment.

Following the Construct Build Evolve event, all of the birdhouses will be donated to charitable foundations and public green spaces throughout the city. They will also be featured here, on this website.

If you are an architect or designer interested in building a birdhouse, please email us.

Imagination Fuels Vision.

Knowledge is Power

Our Function: is to connect, communicate and educate. We build connections with manufacturers, architects, designers and media, and through those connections we begin to paint a picture of what the industry looks like based on trends, patterns and developing technology. We know the audience, the language and use our industry experience and understanding to help clients grow their business and stay competitive. And, we are always striving to learn more so we can share more. Knowledge is power, but what you do with it can bring success.
